Way Down South

Imagine a Church that had a Bishop. A smiling Bishop who promised you the world. His promises would make you feel warm and fuzzy. You would believe that you were in the right place.

Imagine that you saw the best of this Bishop. He cooked, cleaned, and washed his people's feet. He was so beautiful.

Now imagine that you found out more about him. That he wasn't so beautiful. That he lied, and didn't keep his promises. That would hurt.

Imagine if it got worse. Imagine if this Bishop had skeletons in his closet. And what could be the worst I could imagine? How about this, he was unfaithful to his wife. With a babysitter. A teenager from the Church youth group. She got pregnant. Had the child. And it was all hushed up. Imagine if the Church leaders knew, but said nothing. Ever.

And imagine if now, years later, the Bishop moved in with this girl and their child. Imagine if he had done that, and his wife was too scared to go public. Instead she stayed at their family home, demanded that her bills continued to be paid. And the Bishop agreed, and used Church money to do it.

And all the other Bishops knew. And they said nothing. And all the leaders said nothing.

But its real. I know that its real. All you have to do it follow him home, and see who he goes home to. Not his wife. Not his older children. No. He lives a lie and he gets away with it.

This Bishop of the South should be a Bishop no more.

Imagine if someone finally told on him. Told the media. Uncovered all his nasty extortions and bullying. I could imagine that.

What about you? Could you imagine that?

  1. Kia ora Raymond, Oh my gosh I know this story very well and so does half of the church that I know of. Its amazing how much power that these people have over the church. its both a psychological control as well as an abuse of it. I would encourage you to keep imagining the impossible because one day this will be possible. Kia ora.
